Brunei's in-depth travel
Read More...
For many people, Brunei is a country tucked away on the island of Borneo, known for its wealth from oil. Yet this is only one part of Brunei’s story.
On the map, Brunei appears as one nation divided into two separate parts, which often leads people to mistake it as part of Malaysia. In fact, Brunei is one of Southeast Asia’s hidden gems.
Quietly nestled in the region, Brunei is fondly known as the Abode of Peace. Travelling here, visitors will discover a fascinating blend of splendour and simplicity — from magnificent architecture and gilded mosques to the genuine warmth and friendliness of its people. Walking through the streets, travellers can feel safe and at ease. There is no pressure to spend, and every visitor can enjoy the destination in their own way, whether seeking simple pleasures or indulgent experiences.
From the city to the rainforest, Brunei offers attractions that are never overcrowded or overly commercialised. Wherever you go, a sense of calm and comfort follows. Here, people and wildlife live in harmony, while rivers, mountains and lush forests reveal the healing power of nature.
Just a three-hour flight from Hong Kong, Brunei welcomes you to discover a land of simple happiness.

Healing trip in Unzen & Nagakasi
Read More...
Located about an hour’s drive from Nagasaki, Unzen is a small town often described as a soothing, healing destination. Even before you truly arrive, the distinctive smell of sulphur — often compared to rotten eggs — greets your senses. You may wonder: how can a place with such a strong smell be healing?
Having visited Unzen several times, I have come to realise how its geothermal hot springs have been thoughtfully transformed into valuable tourism resources. Each ryokan, many with over a century of history, carries the memories and changes of the local community through time.
Unzen is situated on the Shimabara Peninsula, an active volcanic region. Despite living on this restless land, the locals have learned to overcome its challenges and turn potential risks into opportunities. By making use of the area’s natural resources, they have not only developed unique local businesses, but also created a wide range of hands-on experiences for visitors. Each activity offers a deeper understanding of the people, stories and spirit of this land.
In this talk, we will take you on an audio journey through Unzen, Obama and Nagasaki — three destinations with distinctly different characters — and show you how to connect them into one memorable trip.

How to travel in Africa
Read More...
When it comes to Africa, many people associate the continent with being underdeveloped, chaotic or unclean. I would not deny that these impressions exist — but they are far from the whole truth.
Of course, Africa is home to more than 70 countries, and I have not visited every one of them. Yet from my journeys through East Africa, South Africa and several island nations, I have discovered that each destination has its own distinctive character. The experiences, sights and activities vary greatly from place to place. Far from being merely “underdeveloped”, some parts of Africa can even be described as truly luxurious.
Many people often ask: Is it difficult to travel in Africa? What preparations are needed before departure? Is the Great Migration in East Africa only spectacular between July and September? Can Africa be explored on a lower budget? South Africa’s safety issues have long been a concern — does that mean independent travel is impossible? Are there any off-the-beaten-track routes in South Africa worth recommending?
In this talk, we will explore all these questions and more, covering a wide range of topics related to travelling in Africa. By the end, you may find yourself ready to turn your African journey into reality.

Coastal Japan: A Journey by Sea
Read More...
Japan is brimming with destinations worth visiting, and this session focuses on a scenic coastal route that can be explored by self-drive or by ferry. Discover Takamatsu Port and Shodoshima Island, where you can savour local coastal cuisine and experience the authentic lifestyle of local fishermen — with street snacks that are sure to tempt every traveller.
A ferry ride from Takamatsu Port to Shodoshima takes approximately 35 minutes, offering stunning views of the surrounding islands along the way. The best times to visit Shodoshima are April–May and October–November, when the mild climate sees temperatures ranging from 12°C to 22°C. Second only to Awajishima in size, Shodoshima covers an area of 153 square kilometres, making it the second largest island in the Seto Inland Sea. Its captivating scenery — often described as a "hidden treasure" — has attracted numerous film and television productions. Even legendary Japanese enka queen Ishikawa Sayuri has featured Takamatsu Port and Shodoshima in her song lyrics and music videos.
For food lovers, nothing beats tasting it firsthand: olive beef, soy sauce and nori tsukudani, traditional confectionery, hand-stretched somen noodles, udon, and the renowned Marukin Soy Sauce — all local specialties rarely highlighted in standard tour packages.
The itinerary can also be extended to include Okayama Prefecture, where you can visit the Korakuen Garden and enjoy freshly picked seasonal fruits straight from local orchards — a true treat for the taste buds. In Kurashiki, admire the charming townscape of white-walled storehouses, nori-covered walls, and rows of weeping willows.
